She was an actor in the American show Law & Order, where she portrayed prosecutor Claire Kincaid for three years. In Crossing Jordan she played Jordan Cavanaugh for six seasons. Hennessy demonstrated her skills in films that were independent, like Chutney Popcorn or The Acting Class. The acting career of Hennessy began in 1988 when she along with her sister acted as twin callgirls in Dead Ringers. In 1990, she appeared as a guest on Broadway as Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. Then, she moved into science-fiction and was Dr. Marie Lazarus (RoboCop 3) in 1993. Later that same year she became assistant District Attorney Claire Kincaid in the hit NBC Crime Drama Law & Order. The role was a hit with the viewers for three seasons until she resigned in 1996.
