Aaliyah Daniel Haughton made her way to fame in 1994 after the release of her first album Age Ain't Nothing But A Numer. The album, launched when she was only 15 years old it went Gold. R. Kelly heavily influenced the collaboration and brought the artist into the spotlight. In 1996 Jermaine Durpri and Timbaland joined forces to record the second album of hers, One In A Million. The album included If Your Boyfriend Only Knew as the single number one. Aaliyah gained international recognition as an R&B artist following the release of her sophomore album One In A Million. She was also as a character in Romeo Must Die, a action/romance film starring Jet-Li. The role was offered to her when she was spotted by film director Joel Silver at an awards event. She was a part of the Anne Rice-based vampire film Queen of the Damned, it was released in 2002. The Matrix Sequels saw her as Zee following her appearance as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. In 1999, 2001 2002, 2003 and 1999 she was nominated to win four Grammy Awards. The actress is the very first generation of Indian-American born and raised in Connecticut. Mann is the abbreviation used for her first name in marriage, Mankad. She uses Aarti Mann as well as Aarti Majumdar as her professional names. Although she began her acting career by playing minor film and television performances, her acting career picked up growth in the latter half of 2000s. Other notable works she has done comprise Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. She has also been featured in commercials for big brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. The mother of her daughter resides in Los Angeles and is pursuing her acting.
